Innovation of the Year Award - 2016
The Catalyst Centre, on behalf the Office of Research is pleased to invite nominations for the Innovation of the Year Award - 2016.
The University of Guelph has a long history of innovative research that changes lives and improves life, and encourages creativity, innovation, and translation of knowledge for the greatest possible benefit of society. This includes the development of products or services from innovations created at the University.
The Innovation of the Year Award has been developed to recognize and celebrate Guelph innovations that have made, or have the potential to make, significant socioeconomic benefits to Canada and beyond.
Eligibility: To be eligible for the award, innovations must have been made by faculty, staff, students and/or trainees while at University of Guelph. Nominated innovations should also have been made, published, introduced or reported to the Catalyst Centre within the past five years.
How to Apply: To apply for, or to nominate an innovation for this award, please submit a nomination of no more than 500 words that addresses the following evaluation criteria:
• Inventiveness: The creativity and novelty of the nominated innovation, compared to what already existed.
• Knowledge Mobilization and/or Commercialization: The current progress or plan to implement the innovation into a product or service that is adopted into the marketplace or demonstrates social benefit. For example, provide evidence of IP protection, product development, company creation or licensing, etc.
• Impact(s) within Canada and the world: Provide evidence to demonstrate the current or potential impacts to society, health, the environment or economic development.
Nominations should include the names and contact information of the UG individuals primarily responsible for the innovation.
Award Nomination Process:
Nominations should be submitted by June 3, 2016 to the Catalyst Centre at email@example.com.
The innaugural Innovation of the Year award will be announced at the Gryphon’s LAAIR showcase on June 10, 2016.
